What is Die Zauberflöte about?
After almost being killed by a giant serpent and in the last minute saved by the three ladies who serves The Queen of the Night, young prince Tamino learns that the beautiful Pamina, daughter of the queen, is held captive by the priest Sarastro.

Together with the bird-catcher Papageno he sets out on a quest to save her, and to his help he has a magic flute that will protect him from dangers. 

They soon learn that the real villain is the Queen of the Night, and the young couple decides to take all the trials necessary to be enter Sarastro's temple.

It is an adventurous journey, but like in every true fairy tale, evil is defeated and the young lovers live happily ever after.

Die Zauberflöte is sung in German with Met-translations and texts in English, German and Spanish.
